Saturday night was fight night in Frisco, TX. The event was SWC 11. Rudog is so privileged to be affiliated in one way or another with many of the fighters on the fight card. The co-main event was Sean Spencer vs. Jacob Ortiz. It was such a GREAT fight! Sean Spencer is a fighter that has just recently begun working with Rudog. The fight went the distance and actually both fighters were a little gassed by the 2nd round. It looked like nerves and pacing were issues for Spencer. Ortiz cut a LOT of weight the day of weigh ins (a HUGE Rudog NO NO) and this definitely affected his ability to maintain his energy level.
Not gassing out is one of the top priorities that Rudog has for the fighters we work with. This is why one of our tag lines is "No gas, No go". It is our mission to teach fighters and their trainers a new way of training. The new way incorporates what and how the fighter eats with what and how he trains. In the perfect world of Rudog there wouldn't be any drastic weight cutting. Fighters would learn to eat in a way that keeps their muscles maximally fueled while keeping their walk around weight the same as their fight weight. It CAN be done.
Most fighters take a more serious look at their diet AFTER they have lost a fight. Many of them tell Rudog up front that they cut too much weight too fast and they felt like sh##. Don't be that fighter. Learn to do it the Rudog way.
